On April 23, 2012, the City Council approved an ordinance to modify tipping fees at the solid waste transfer station. The ordinance is effective June 4, 2012. Fees will be fifty-four dollars ($54.00) per ton, with a minimum per-load fee of twenty-six dollars and twenty-five cents ($26.25) for any vehicle depositing less than one thousand (1,000) pounds.

The Northwest Missouri Regional Council of Governments will hold a Household Hazardous Waste and Electronics Waste Collection on Saturday, April 21, 2012 in Nodaway County. On April 3, 2012, Maryville voters passed a $13.7 million bond issue needed to build a government-mandated waste-water treatment plant. Passage of the bond issue clears the way for construction of a new mechanical plant that will replace the city's antiquated lagoon-based system, which no longer meets state and federal standards for removal of ammonia. The bond issue passed with 86% of the votes cast.

The boil advisory for water from the Maryville treatment plant has been lifted effective immediately (as of 9:30 am on Friday, October 28, 2011). Regular consumption of the City’s water is permitted without concern.

A boil advisory has been issued for water from the Maryville, MO treatment plant beginning at 7:30 a.m. on Wednesday, October 26. At that time, connections to a new high-service pump will be completed at the plant. Customers should plan on this boil advisory being in place for at least 48 hours. Once tests indicate that the water meets standards, media will be notified of the end of the boil advisory.
This advisory includes residents of the city and also nearby rural areas that use city water.
