On April 23, 2012, the City Council approved an ordinance to modify tipping fees at the solid waste transfer station. The ordinance is effective June 4, 2012. Fees will be fifty-four dollars ($54.00) per ton, with a minimum per-load fee of twenty-six dollars and twenty-five cents ($26.25) for any vehicle depositing less than one thousand (1,000) pounds.

As part of regular maintenance, water lines throughout Maryville will be flushed over several days, from April 30 to May 4, 2012.

The City of Maryville will host a meeting on May 3 to discuss a home repair program and encourage homeowners in the city limits of Maryville to take advantage of the $88,000 in funds that are available. The meeting will take place at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, May 3, 2012 at City Hall in the Council Chamber/Room.

Maryville will host a presentation of the Downtown Strategic Plan on April 26, 2012 at 6:30 p.m. in the north room of the Maryville Community Center. The presentation is open to the public and all public input is welcome.

The Northwest Missouri Regional Council of Governments will hold a Household Hazardous Waste and Electronics Waste Collection on Saturday, April 21, 2012 in Nodaway County. The collections are open to residents of Atchison, Gentry, Holt, Nodaway, and Worth Counties only. The event will be held from 8 a.m. until noon at the Nodaway County Maintenance Barn located at 1516 E. Halsey, Maryville, MO 64468.

The City of Maryville, which has received $88,000 in HOME Repair Opportunity (HeRO) program funds for 2012, will hold a home repair opportunity meeting for local property owners at 5:30 pm on Thursday, May 3, 2012 at City Hall.

On April 3, 2012, Maryville voters passed a $13.7 million bond issue needed to build a government-mandated waste-water treatment plant. Passage of the bond issue clears the way for construction of a new mechanical plant that will replace the city's antiquated lagoon-based system, which no longer meets state and federal standards for removal of ammonia. The bond issue passed with 86% of the votes cast.

In response to concerns raised by Maryville residents about problems with rental properties in their neighborhoods, RDG Planning and Design has made several zoning recommendations for the City of Maryville. A public workshop on the proposals will be held on April 25.

The City of Maryville will be asking voters for approval of a $13.75 million Combined Waterworks and Sewerage System Revenue Bond issue on April 3rd. Upgrades to the lagoon system using revenue bonds with their lower interest rates will have the least financial impact.

The boil advisory for water from the Maryville treatment plant has been lifted effective immediately (as of 9:30 am on Friday, October 28, 2011). Regular consumption of the City’s water is permitted without concern.

A boil advisory has been issued for water from the Maryville, MO treatment plant beginning at 7:30 a.m. on Wednesday, October 26. At that time, connections to a new high-service pump will be completed at the plant. Customers should plan on this boil advisory being in place for at least 48 hours. Once tests indicate that the water meets standards, media will be notified of the end of the boil advisory. This advisory includes residents of the city and also nearby rural areas that use city water.

Structural engineer Michael Metcalf of Metcalf Engineering and Environmental, Inc. will be in Maryville on Wednesday, October 19th, 2011 at 5:30 p.m. at the Nodaway County Administration Building, 403 North Market Street, to give a presentation on the care and maintenance of older buildings.

The intersection at Main and Third Streets on Maryville's courthouse square will reopen on Wednesday, May 25, 2011. On the same day, the intersection at Main and Fourth Streets will be closing in the final phase of the project.
